I just joined your group. I own a 1977 Firebird Esprit. It is a 85% original car. It is a Rockford Files look-a-like car. This car was original purchased by a lady in Oregon and spent the majority of its life in the state of Oregon. It seems appropriate to join you club since it is based in Oregon. I live in the Chicago Area and have always liked Star Cars. I made my first Star Car back in 1976. It was a Starsky and Hutch 1974 Torino It was the first S&H Torino in the area. In fact right after I made mine Ford started to build their own version. I look forward to being a part of this club. I have a website/blog with all the information on the Rockford Files Firebirds. Please check it out when you get a chance. Let me know what you think of the site. Address is: jimsuva.vox.com/Thanks, Jim Suva

Jim, We are happy and proud to have you on board with the club. Your car is beautiful and a great tribute to the show Rockford Files. For those that don't know about Jim, be sure to check out his website and read through his writings. It contains a huge amount of information concerning the Pontiac Firebird, which includes the actual paint color codes used to create that great color of the car. Jim is the preeminent expert on the Rockford Files Firebird. Here is the link to his site: jimsuva.vox.com/

Thanks Tod for the kind words. Glad to be part of your club. Also thanks for adding a link to my website/blog in your links section!
I like your car also. I see you have an original stunt car from Deathproof. I remember when those Novas were new. Nice restoration.
Jim

Thanks Jim! No doubt I'm proud of my Nova. Much thanks goes out to Rusty Robinson www.rustystvandmoviecars.com/movie-cars.html for making it possible for me to have some parts off of one of the actual stunt cars to incorporate into the build of my car. Also, thanks to my mechanic Jordan and his dad Todd for working so hard on the car for me so I am able to own my dream ;D

Seeing your car inspired me to go to Netflix and watch a couple of episodes of the Rockford Files online. I watched from season 4 and the car received a lot of screen time. Too bad right out of the gate in season 4 episode 1 the car gets wrecked and spends half the episode in the shop

I was thinking it would be fun to post a little bit of information on the Rockford Files TV show for anyone that hasn't seen or heard of the show. It is now available on dvd for those that would like to see a great show from the 1970s. I personally have been enjoying it on Netflix as they have a number of the seasons available.
On the popular detective series THE ROCKFORD FILES/NBC/1974-80. James Garner starred as Jim Rockford, an easy-going but rugged Los Angeles-based ex-con turned private eye. Jim lived in a mobile home park on the beach and traveled about the southland in a gold Firebird Esprit [models 1975-1978]. Its license read: 853-OKG. When someone needed to hire Jim they contacted him by telephone [213-555-2368] and left a message on his answering machine. When Jim got the chance, he hopped into his Firebird and started working the case.
TRIVIA NOTE: According to James Garner, the license plate number (853-OKG) on Jim Rockford's Firebird was thought up by his agent. It represents August of 1953 when James Garner got his first acting role and the OKG comes from his home state of Oklahoma and the first letter of his last name!
